In the heart of Suphan Buri, amidst the emerald rice paddies, a symbol of resilience and tradition stands tall—the towering bamboo fish trap. Following its unexpected collapse in 2021, this iconic structure has now been resurrected, reclaiming its status as a beloved local landmark and a draw for tourists.

Restored to its original location, the impressive bamboo marvel is once again beckoning visitors from both near and far.

They come to marvel at its intricate craftsmanship, ascend to its sturdy levels, and soak in the sweeping views of the surrounding countryside.

Nearby, the vibrant Saphan Khong Floating Market buzzes with life, offering tantalising local treats and artisan crafts.

Located alongside the serene Song Phi Nong Canal, opposite the revered Wat Thong Pradit Buddhist temple, the Giant Fish Trap Tower remains a highlight of the local landscape.

Originally constructed in 2018 by local residents using bamboo poles, this conical structure echoes the traditional fish traps found throughout Suphan Buri, symbolising a deep connection to ancestral wisdom and craftsmanship.

The tower quickly became a catalyst for tourism, attracting weekenders and city-dwellers seeking an immersion in rural life, culture, and cuisine.

Unfortunately, its collapse during a thunderstorm in 2021 left a trail of bamboo debris along the canal.

Unlike its predecessor, the newly rebuilt fish trap stands as more than just a stack of bamboo poles lashed together.

Rising four levels on a sturdy I-beam frame, the structure accommodates a façade of bamboo poles, ensuring both durability and authenticity.

Preserving the essence of Thailand’s countryside, the towering cone pays homage to local fishing practices and traditions.
