Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan began his official visit to Thailand today, at the invitation of his Thai counterpart, Maris Sangiampongsa.

Today he is scheduled to attend a working luncheon with Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and an official welcome dinner, hosted by Maris, according to Thai Foreign Ministry.

Tomorrow he will attend a bilateral meeting with Maris and pay a courtesy call on General Surayud Chulanont, President of the Privy Council, and Privy Councillor General Prayut Chan-o-cha.

During his visit, Balakrishnan will also have lunch with Chaithawat Tulathon, leader of the opposition bloc in parliament.

Tomorrow, Balakrishnan will co-preside, with Maris, over the opening ceremony of the 14th Coordinating Meeting of the Thailand-Singapore Civil Service Exchange Programme (CSEP).

The theme of this CSEP Meeting is “Embarking on a Green Partnership in a Digitalised Era” and is intended to promote the implementation of Thailand’s “New Economy” policy, which underlines the importance of green technology, digital tools and innovation to enhance sustainable social and economic growth.
