The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) faulted a former deputy director general of the Interior Ministry’s Community Development Department on a criminal violation today, for accepting a luxury watch, the value of which exceeds the 3,000 baht limit allowed by law.

The commission will ask the Attorney General to indict Thaweep Butphoe on a charge of corruption, as he accepted a TAG Heuer timepiece, worth Bt85,500, from a person who was congratulating him on his promotion.

He failed to notify his superior about the gift and kept it in his home, returning it only after a complaint was lodged with the NACC three years and eleven months later.

The NACC concluded that he had committed a severe disciplinary violation.
