Fares on MRT Blue Line trains will increase from Wednesday by 1-2 baht, to between 17 and 45 baht.

The operator of the Blue Line, Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company, said in its statement today that the fare adjustment is in line with the concession contract, which allows the company to increase the fares every 24 months in line with the consumer price index.

The company said that the fare will be increased by one baht for travel from the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th and 11th station and by 2 baht for the 8th, 10th and 12th stations.

Commuters who are over 60 and young children will receive a 50% discount, while students will receive a 10% discount.

The Blue Line has 38 stations and stretches for 48km.
