The Cabinet has agreed to increase MRT Blue Line fares from Bt17-Bt43 to Bt17-Bt45, effective from July 3.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Kenika Anudit revealed yesterday that the cabinet had approved the draft regulations of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA), concerning common fare setting, common fare collection and types of passengers exempted on the MRT Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line, as suggested by the transport ministry.

According to the concession contract, the fares can be adjusted every 2 years. The current fares will expire on July 2and the new fares, calculated based on the Consumer Price Index, will range from Bt17 to Bt45.

The Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line (Blue Line) is operated by Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM) and runs a total distance of 48km with 38 stations.
