The lifeless body of a deputy director of a municipal school in the northern province of Lamphun, who was reported missing on June 16th, was found in his Toyota Vios sedan, parked under the ring road in Muang district of Chiang Mai on Friday night. He appears to have committed suicide.

Last night, Mae Ping police were dispatched to the location, in Tha Sala sub-district, to investigate a witness report of a male, apparently unconscious or deceased, in a car.

Police think that the car had been parked there for several days, because it was covered in a thick layer of dust. The car’s windows and doors were closed and locked from the inside and the body was in the left rear seat with a red nylon cord tied to a grab handle above the seat. A stove and unused charcoal were found in the car trunk.

Police say that the body is believed to be that of Ruchakorn Jaisanti, the missing deputy director of San Pa Yang Nom municipal school in Muang district of Lamphun, because the car’s license plates match those reported by his wife as being registered to his car.

Police say that Ruchakorn had been dead for several days, as natural decomposition was clearly evident. The remains were sent to the Maharaj Nakhon Chiang Mai Hospital for autopsy.

Police will invite his family and colleagues in for questioning about possible motives behind his suicide.

The victim’s wife reportedly said that Ruchakorn was extremely stressed, after he was placed under investigation for approving the advance payment of 100,000 baht to a teacher, who disappeared with the money.

Police say they checked Ruchakorn’s cell phone and discovered that he had searched online for information about how to commit suicide.
