An activist who vandalised the wall of the Grand Palace with spray-paint was sentenced to eight months in prison today by the Criminal Court.

The defendant, 26-year-old Sutthavee Soikham, was arrested on March 28last year, as he was spray-painting the wall of the Grand Palace facing Na Phra Lan Road in Phra Nakhon district, while some of his friends were using their smart phones to record his act.

The court found the defendant guilty of violating the Ancient Monuments, Antique Objects of Art and National Museum Act and the Cleanliness Act and sentenced him to one year in prison, which was commuted to eight months.
