Move Forward Party leader Pita Limjaroenrat said this afternoon Thailand has changed since the general election in May and the people are now “half way to victory”.

In his parting shot as he prepared to leave the parliament chamber after being told by the Constitutional Court to suspend his parliamentary duty, Pita asked his fellow MPs to make the victory complete.

“I think Thailand has never been the same since May 14 (election). The people are now half way to victory. Though I am no longer able to perform my duty, I ask my fellow MPs to take care of the rest,” said Pita before walking out of the chamber amid an applause from many of the parliamentarians.

Pita, who was seen removing his MP tag and placing it on a table, waved to his fellow MPs and punched the air as he was making an exit.

In his brief remark directed at Parliament President Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, Pita said he had received an official notice from the Constitutional Court temporarily suspending him from active legislative duty and was willing to abide by it.

The court earlier in the day decided to accept for deliberation charges by the Election Commission that he violated the election law by holding shares in the iTV broadcast company.

ThaiPBS World gathered photos of him leaving the parliament chamber. He shook hands with his MP colleagues and received loud applause as he left the room.
